Factory Improvements
We are continuing to upgrade our timber factory with improvements to machinery and safety.

A new cross-cut angle saw was installed at the end of November, enabling us to cut millimetre-perfect angles and lengths of up to 6 metres.
We are also continuing to upgrade our LEV system. Dust is classed as a hazardous substance and is governed by COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health). Each of our saws is connected to a LEV system (Local Exhaust Ventilation), which extracts the dust from the atmosphere, enabling our factory staff to work safely.
While the factory is quieter in the post-Christmas period, we have installed a new and safer staircase linking the office areas upstairs to the factory/workshop. This has increased the distance between pedestrians entering the factory from the upstairs office and the area in which forklift trucks operate, increasing pedestrian safety and further reducing the risk of an accident.
We have also fitted out a new steel workshop, where our specialist carpenter and his apprentice can work with pre-fabricated steel, drilling holes and preparing it for the erection on site of the timber frame. In order to connect this space to the outside, we have had to have a new motor fitted to the existing roller shutter door. This is due to be installed on 5th February, and then the new workshop really will be ready to roll!
